Each project—while utterly unique and tailored to the particular needs, wants, and wishes of each of our clients—follows a tried-and-true process, a method that we’ve honed over the years here and elsewhere. We see each design project as its own ecosystem; every part needs the other to survive, and the whole becomes so much more than the sum of those parts.

Phase 1:

Discovery

Who are you really? What do you want? Do you go to bed early and wake up early, or are you a night owl? Do you love the feeling of sun on your face in the morning, or do you want darkness, full shade? Are you single, coupled? Do you have children and/or do you want them, or are you thriving with the child-free life you’ve built for yourself? Do you like to be outside, or inside looking out, or inside looking in?

Together, we will figure out not only the colors, inspirations, and ideas that you look to, but what the shape and scope of your life actually looks like. Interior design is an opportunity to think about how things will look, but more importantly: how they will feel.

Together, we continue to refine the vision and its execution.

Phase 2:

Refinement

Once we have a shared understanding of the mood we want to create, we start actually thinking about the elements. What are the rooms, and what do they need? What kind of a budget are we working with? Are we sourcing at international antique markets, or from longstanding local brands? Do we want to spread our resources equally across the whole project, or focus on a few special rooms? Together, we answer these questions and more, continuing to refine the vision and its execution.

This is the beginning of the moment where it all starts to come together.

Phase 3

Documentation

This is the nuts and bolts, when we decide what to buy and when it should arrive. Working with Elizabeth Rose Jackson Interiors’ deep network of sources, our studio outlines exactly what a room will look like - in drawings, mood boards, renderings, and sketches. This is the beginning of the moments where it all starts to come together; when the different conversations and ideas we’ve been working with start to coalesce into one vibrant, livable home. This is also where we track things like delivery timelines and budgets, and where we make sure that every square inch, and every dollar, is doing what it’s supposed to.

Phase 4

Installation

Something always goes right, and something else always needs an extra hand. These are the days where everything we’ve imagined is suddenly real and in front of us. We manage delivery and installation of everything from that honed marble backsplash we chose together to the custom-made sofa from the craftsman down the street. We make sure everything finds its right place.

Phase 5

Living.

Nothing in life is ever static, particularly design. After installation, and after you move in, we value staying in touch, hearing about how you’re using that nook we designed together; how the light fixtures are changing what they illuminate; and how that bedroom is actually restoring you.

And then, we celebrate.
